There are two Elephants Let Me Pour You A Tall Glass Of Get Over It Oh And Here’s A Straw Shirt schools that are literally on the highway near me where it was previously a 50MPH, 25MPH school zone. Most people ignored it so they sent out cops to drive around in circles to essentially cause a traffic jam on purpose while kids were walking to or from school. I understood what was going on because I live in the area but so many people would get infuriated over it. I feel like the majority of accidents probably happen between 30 and 40 because that’s a very typical city street speed, around 35mph. A major cause of accidents is people pulling out and merging with the 35mph traffic.

Highways have long onramps to plan a merge but cities have stop signs at intersections perpendicular to 35mph roads. Even better is 20 mph. Why do you need to go faster than that on a residential street? If you can’t be bothered to drive to a highway to get where you need to be, too bad. If you just got off a highway and you’re like 6 blocks from home, going 40 isn’t going to save you more than a few seconds. And if Waze told you to drive by my house, then I’m not prepared to sacrifice me and all my neighbors’ safety so you can get somewhere a little bit quicker.
